A dreadful story began to unfold, which was
threatening and potentially could have destroyed our family unit as it
excisted.
The first we heard of it was through a newspaper
article in a Seattle broadsheet: "Ms. X" is seeking the father of her
son,now 10 years old.
A photo of the boy was provided as well, albeit
somewhat grainy for privacy reasons.
First I didn't take much notice of it, because
these stories turn up quite frequently; but then something inside me forced me
to read on.....and there it was: my son's name in shouty letters: CHRISTIAN
TREVELYAN-GREY is the alleged father of Ms. X's son.
My heart skipped a beat and my breathing
increased to a frightening pace. My mind went blank and then jolted into
overload. What on earth is this? Who dares to make allegations like this about
my son?
I picked up the paper and walked, almost trance
like, across the living room to where Carrick was playing a game of chess
against a computer chess simulator.
I stood pale and motionless before him. He
looked up and smiled at me with that gorgeous big smile of his; oh my God,how I
love this smile.
